Ministerial Internship Program
A Summer Internship at Ann Arbor Baptist Church will offer you several unique and rewarding opportunities. God has blessed us with 40 acres of land in Ann Arbor, and a beautiful church building. We are located in a prime location for dynamic ministry, just minutes from the University of Michigan.
Ann Arbor Baptist Church was founded in 1979, near downtown Ann Arbor, MI. Since then, thousands of lives have been impacted through the preaching of God’s Word in and around Ann Arbor, on local college campuses, and around the world through the scores of missionaries we support. AABC has grown to nearly 200 members and now meets in our 15,000+ sq. ft. building, on 40 beautiful acres on the outskirts of Ann Arbor. In 2015, God lead Pastor Jonathan Barber to leave itinerant evangelism and assume the senior pastorate at AABC. We rejoice in that God has poured out His Spirit on our ministry and has exalted the Lord Jesus Christ through Ann Arbor Baptist Church.
Prospective Intern,
It has been exciting to see God grow and guide our ministry. With that growth, we have frequently felt the need for more space. In 2019, our church began planning toward the building of a Family Ministry Center for further ministry to our people and our community. To accomplish this great task, we must, like Nehemiah, be strengthened for the work. As we focus on strengthening each other in 2020, won’t you consider joining us in that effort? We pray that you will be strengthened also for the ministry to which God has called you.
Sincerely,
Pastor Jonathan Barber
• Son and grandson of pastors
• B.A. and M.A. in Bible from Baptist College of Ministry
• 8 years in evangelism
• Led Cola-Clash Youth, and Netcasters Evangelistic Team
• Senior Pastor at AABC since November 2015
Perhaps the most impactful part of the internship was the personal friendships I formed with Pastor Barber and the rest of the staff. These friendships were so much more than a one-way mentorship relationship. As an intern at Ann Arbor Baptist, I found myself contributing as a valued team member and not just as “temporary help.” Serving on this team in this vibrant ministry gave me vision and faith for how God can use me.
One of our students had the opportunity to take part in the church pastoral internship program at AABC. Every detail for which we had concerns was handled, and the staff was always ready to answer our questions. The internship provides numerous opportunities for students grow in their understanding of ministry. AABC was willing to integrate their program with our college’s requirements for an internship so that what our student experienced fully matched our expectations for him.
I came to Ann Arbor Baptist Church not knowing anyone, but after a summer interning there, I left with many valuable friendships. I’m so thankful for how God was able to use just a few short months to make such a big impact on my life.
God really blessed me while I was at Ann Arbor Baptist, and I learned a lot about ministry on a practical scale. VBS was a fun and exciting experience, plus I got to build part of the skit set!
